you need to go with white or very light colors to open the room up.

Light colored pastel walls with tiny print curtains and bedspread, and very frilly to get the attention rather than noticing the small size. You could paint the ceiling a coool color or even like the sky with clouds to make it extra special.

Maybe Pastel PINK with white ..... I'd like to suggest taping the room off on 1/2 up all four walls ... On two of the wall you paint the top half pastel pink and the bottom half white .... or pale beige ... On the other two walls you paint the top half white or pale beige AND the bottom pastel pink .... Unusual and interesting ; or so I think ...
