  • It can be from all sorts of things. It's normal and can happen any time, though some foods bring it on more, like if they have lots of beta carotene.
  • Bright orangey-red urine is very common in rabbits, due to the production of porphyrins and vegetable proteins. It does not indicate infection or blood. If your rabbit's urine is ALWAYS this colour, you should speak with a vet because it might indicate a diet problem. But my own rabbit's urine is regularly this colour, and he is absolutely fine. However, a entire carrot is likely not a good idea for your rabbit. Actually, even half a carrot is probably too much. Carrots are very sugary, and rabbits have a lot of problems with sugar. If you do want to give your rabbit treats (carrots, apple, berries), make sure you feed them regularly and in small amounts (for example, 1tsp a day). If you feed large amounts, or if you feed them irregularly, digestive problems can easily occur. My vet has recommended I cut treats out entirely, so you might want to consider this. The exception is 30mg papaya enzyme tablets -- you can find these in health food stores. These are sugary, so they fulfil my desires to treat my bunny, but they also help promote a healthy GI tract. My bun gets 1 a day, or 2 a day when he's moulting.
