always said that was a good idea, just one of those things that are so simple that nobody will do it. be nice though

YES! But, I would worry about the pollution they would be taking in and then whomever would be consuming them :-/ I think there should be more flowering trees at least, if not fruit.

The local kids might use the fruit as ammunition to throw at windows, so probably not.

yeah a great idea.... in my village, we had Mango and jamun (black berry) trees, plum and apricot, peach, trees on road side.... and luckily in interior Indian villages there are still such roads that have so many fruit trees on the sides.... and it was fun walking below them and asking the kids sitting on the trees to throw some good ripe fruit to us.... just one negative thing occured... small kids who could not climb trees would throw stones to make the fruits fall onroad.. such stone hit the passers by sometimes.. (though rarely)
