The way to gain strength. Flat on your back, arms above your head, come forward until your fingers touch your toes, do them FAST. I would do them in sets with a short rest in between. i.e. 10 at a time, then 15 at a time, etc. adding 5 each increase until you reach at least 100 at a time. Not for those who just wish to tone their muscles!!!!

we were taught that you had to come all the way up off the floor but thats not true anymore... you only have to lift your shoulders off the floor and be careful if you put your hands behind your head because some people tend to hurt their necks doing that... try crossing your hands across your chest and just coming up till your shoulders are off the ground, you can bend your knees too if its helpful for you

You should keep your hands behind your head so that you can feel It In your stomach and keep your feet flat on the ground =)
