  • You can not "get" it. You either have it or you don't. -from birth - although it may not really be apparent until somewhat older. Do not worry about it unless you are having problems. If you are struggling with friendships and other problems (like obsessions with topics, activities or interests that are far above typical, motor movements, etc.) then ask your parents to have you evaluated. If you are asking because yu are considering having children, then the change of any autism spectrum disorder is 1 in 150. However, with a sibling there is a 1 in 20 chance of a second sibling with ASD.
