Whats the point? How many people could you feed and clothe for what will be spent on going to the moon? Does anybody want to live on that baren wastland? I sure don't. Its pointless. Put that money to better use.

It is a very expensive place to travel to. As you can see from the space shuttles and all the trouble we've had with satellites over the years, it is very very challenging to put stuff in space even today. It's not quite routine yet. And the most significant question is this: What do we do when we get there? It's too expensive to create a base and if we did, what would we use it for? How would it pay for itself? We just don't have a good reason.

Depends on who you believe. Either the cold war is over so we don't have a reason to go, or the Aliens told us that's their property and would we please stay off.
