I wouldn't say "most" (that would imply > 50%), but there are certainly a larger percentage of "shockingly" thin women in in LA than in most other US cities. -
NOOOOOO! a mean a few are , due to eating disorders or natural skinny-ness but the majority of us are normal! but in hollywood ( mostly celebs) there is deffinitily a problem!

Being a Los Angeles native and living nearby once again (in Orange County), I would say that this is definitely NOT true. Just like everywhere else, we have all kinds of people. Fat, thin and in-between. If you look at the latest "Fittest Cities" rankings, Los Angeles is #22: http://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20050105/americas-fittest-fattest-cities Yet Long Beach, which is very close to LA, ranks on the 25 Fattest Cities in America. I think a great deal of this perception is caused by Los Angeles being such a huge media center. People in the media (esp. TV/movies) tend to be unnatuarlly thin, as do the groupies and hangers-on. So, if you see a television program about Los Angeles, the anorexic host will show you the anorexic people they hired to be on the show and the anorexic "wanna-bes" in the background. The overwhelming majority of Los Angelenos lead fairly normal lives and have fairly normal bodies.

I've never been to L.A., but when I visit my sister in San Diego, I notice a lot of fit, healthy looking (not thin) people. The U.S. overall has a far greater problem (an epidemic really) of obesity.

It all depends on where you happen to hang out because Los Angeles is a bigger place than people think. Yes, the women seemed to be more thinner and concerns with their looks if you're at the clubs, entertainment environment and the hip/posh celebs type of eateries. Nevertheless, comparatively per square mile then perhaps Los Angeles women are shockingly thinner than the rest of the country.

No. L.A. is incredibly diverse and there are whole communities where you'd be hard-pressed to find even one thin woman. It is true, however, that most of the women in L.A. strive to be shockingly thin. Fortunately, most of them lack the will power.

No, most aren't. Many people in LA like eating burgers and fatty stuff. Maybe that's just what people notice.

It is a trick. They just wear bigger looser fitting clothes and stand next to oversize objects that are really just props created by the entertainment industry.
