Why would they do that? It's already only bought through perscription as a rule. If someone is allergic to codeine then they should not take it. I know people abuse it, but why should the world suffer because of that?

The vote was almost 50/50 on those two recommendations. I was quite puzzled as to their thinking. They are concerned about the potential for liver damage from overdoses of the Tylenol in each. I'm not sure why they picked those two combination painkillers and not many other forms of Tylenol. They are extremely effective analgesics. But some people abuse them and perhaps do so in conjunction with alcohol, which greatly increases the likelihood of liver damage due to Tylenol.

Just don't let them mess with my percs or codes..Grrrrr.. Anyone got a spare Valium?

FDA always reacts. FDA has no credibility with me. There might be a whole diff reason why they're looking at them. Now they want to pull darvon & darvocet -- been around for decades in US but banned in several other countries, citing long term use is detrimental. We will never know the real story.

I agree if they make marijuana redily avalible in stead of vicodin and percocet, but if not, i'd say vicodin and percocet are probably not going to get taken off the market anyways.+3

I agree - the news report are correct. They are thinking about it.

I do understand the mail issue with that is the amount of tylenol in it. They also plan to take anything OTC that has over 650 mg of tylenol in it off the shelves. Stupid if you ask me. Take tylenol 500. It says to only take 8 a day. If I want to I could take 50 a day and they could do nothing about it. It's one thing to be cautious but it's getting out of control. As someone with a chronic pain condition I see this as a very bad thing. They were trying to pass a law to outlaw doctors giving ANY narcotics for home use. How do you think this will affect ER visits and doctor visits and those with chronic pain. 90% of the doctors here won't even give pain meds at all. they already require you to go to the ER or office. I agree with Sharon. It's about the money. Has nothing to do with health of the patients.

Disagree....doctors should just utilize more care when writing prescriptions instead of just making their patient's "happy" they should actually treat the underlying problem.

Have taken both after surgery, hope they have a replacement THAT WORKS.

There are better things for pain that are less habit forming. These drugs are the scourge on society. Lithium should be done away with too.
