A couple of reason: Foremost, you can almost pick the date you want to have the child (life threatening circumstances not withstanding), which could make it easy to remember birth dates if you had them all on the same date (i.e. the 5th of whatever month). Another reason is that they don't have to deal with labor (but do have to deal with recovery as if they had major surgery). Finally, a lot of doctors are recommending it because then they can schedule the "work" they have to do instead of being "on call" for when the mother goes into labor.
