The charges don't matter, it's the convictions that matter. Were you actually convicted of these crimes or were the charges dropped? Anybody can be charged with anything, so even if charges show up on a background check it may be illegal for a prospective employer to hold them against you. If you have *convictions* these will show up on a background check. Disclose them up front with a good explanation and hope for the best.

Probably... Although this place tends to attract the scum of the earth so...Maybe your little misdemeanor will be ignored for the real criminals and you'll blend right in?

It shouldn't because it's been over 7 years, but depending what state you live in the US,if you live in the US,the laws are very different. My state,Louisiana has a 7 year limit to hold people to their charges, because everyone makes mistakes, and some people change,so It's only fair to induviduals.I had 2 misdemeanors as a juvie, and they won't show up on my record, because I'm an adult now,and I've changed. It shouldn't affect your job application, but the world makes it extremly difficult to make up for mistakes to re-do your life, and start over fresh.Once you fall,it's harder to get back up because no one will hire you.*Good Luck with work!*+++++*

You should be in the clear, UNLESS the job you are looking for involves driving on the job, and especially if a CDL is involved. If driving is involved, they'll pull your entire abstract from date of 1st getting a license.

I'm renting a mobile home in a 55+ park for the summer from a 'snowbird.' The park management made me pay them $25 to do a background check on me. They said I passed. I don't think they would have accepted me had they seen the misdemeanor possession charge. I suspect they may have just taken my money and not actually run the background check? Is it OK if I ask them who they used for the check and get a copy of it? I know I can request those things if it causes me not to be hired, but since they approved me, I don't know if I can request the info. I haven't had any other background checks done, but I want to know what employers might see, and I can't afford to do one on myself. How can I find out if they actually DID a background check? And if they didn't, can I get my $25 back? Or report them for taking my money fraudenty?
