Which compund would be more stable:one which uses more energy to break its bonds or one which uses less energy? You would say the answer is the 2nd one i.e. which uses less energy because it had lesser energy in the 1st place and hence was more stable.... But how would you explain this: Diamond uses alot of energy to decompose while CO2 uses less...doesn't that mean diamond is more stable (i.e. it retains its structure even at higher temperatures) even though is uses greater amount of energy??
