Should young people call older folks by there name?

I was always taught to say Mr, or ms, or Mrs. I try to teach my children the same thing, but it is very hard. Some people simply just want to be called by there first name. Maybe it's easier for them to communicate with people of any age if they call them by there first name. I'm not sure.

It sounds better than "hey old fart!" 8o) Seriously though it depends on the person, most of the old people I know like to be called by their first names and not Mrs. Smith or whatever.
