NONE! That is nothing less than mutilation. It has NO purpose other than to deny pleasure to women. A shameful practice!
-
This is barbaric and there are no benefits. Chopping off a clitoris should be a crime.
-
there are none.

There are no benefits.
-
You must be joking? You mean "female mutilation" don't you?
-
None. It's even more barbaric than male circumcision. Both should be globally banned unless an individual chooses to have it done.
-
It is an unspeakable practice that has no benefits and it harms girls and women in many ways.
-
There are no benefits.

I'm going to assume you're asking what was the basis of the practice if it has no benefits? Well the answer is none. It is a symptom of patriarchal insecurity. Some dude at some time was afraid his wife might like another guy's schlong better than his. His answer, if she can't enjoy sex then she won't know what she's missing. He then sold it to the crowd that it will keep women from being loose because they can't control themselves. Women in many societies are basically adult children because they're not respected as equals. If a woman can't veto your decision or needs to ask your permission then there is a power imbalance.

We have a definitional problem here. It is possible to surgically remove the hood of the clitoris which exposes the very sensitive 'bud' to...well, everything. That's one kind. It is controversial, equates to male circumcision, but not what people usually refer to as female circumcision. . The other is similar but the bud is removed as well. This is the one also referred to as mutilation as it it removes much of the sensation and much if not every chance of orgasm. This equates to removing the head of the penis.

Hmmmm...none

The following are the medical benefits: 1) A reduction of infections resulting from microbes gathering under the hood of the clitoris. 2) Attacks of herpes and genital ulcers are less severe and less harmful with men and women who have been circumcised. 3) A further benefit that is apparent for women and more so for their husbands, is that women of hot climates often have a large clitoris which arouses their desires when it rubs against the adjacent clothing. It may even grow to such a size that sexual intercourse is not possible. Therefore, circumcision reduces her desires and their effects in the first case, and makes intercourse possible in the second case

-
There are none Its cruel and Savage.
-
It makes the barbaric practice of infant male circumcision seem a little less like child abuse, as full female genital mutilation is considerably worse.
-
There are none, to the person being mutilated, that is.
-
None that I can think of, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
-
I didn't know there was such a thing but i'm thinking nothing good can come from it. It kinda makes me sick now that I think abbout it.
-
The same as those of male circumcision: Some will claim it "reduces risk of infection". Simple solution that doesn't require removing sensitive skin: Bathe. Both practices are barbaric and disgusting, and should be banned on a global scale.

Benefits of a male promoted, barbaric, horrid procedure, done in mud huts in the middle of nowhere with no doctors by old women who are bitter and angry for having had to it themselves too and with rusty dirty implements? WTF! Come on now!
