I dont think its true, but why do some americans come across as incredibly dumb thick stupid?

In Canada, international news makes up much of the nightly broadcast. Not so much so in the States. Also, Americans are accustomed to a certain standard of living that isn't always apparent in other countries. So I think they come across as knowing little and expecting much.

You could say that about people from any culture that is different from ones own. It is a sterotypical prejudice. I could name the equivalent for people from many different countries.

Some Americans come across as being dumb, thick, and stupid because they are, but I am sure that you could find people like that no matter what country you go to.

I don't think all Americans are stupid. Some are, but you get that everywhere. In my travels around our lovely planet, I've met some people who you think "Dear Lord, this guy's so dumb I'm stunned that he's survived to adulthood!" I think it's more the point that, the general perception of Americans is that they're very insular and as such, they're rather ignorant of anything outside the USA. (But again, that happens in every country)

tons of people are stupid..but i know what you mean..when you talk to them (certain people..not all) they seem thick headed..and they give you this hazy stare..like the info hasn't reached the center yet..and laugh this dumb laugh and try to shrug off that they didn't get it..most seem very fake..i think this is usually because they are distant and think about their own issues while talking to you.. its disrespect and they aren't interested in talking to you..i hate people like that lol..

As Plato would put it, many people are providers-- money loving -- pleasing the senses but starving the mind. This is how most people are; then you have honor lovers, people who compete to win. There are less of these, but they are more respectable than the money lovers. Finally, the most scarce of people are the virtue and knowledge lovers. Those who seek knowledge for its intrinsic value, not for a high paying job or academic prize. The sad thing is, I go to college and I love to learn, but I see everyone there just drinking alcohol and cheating. They arent there to learn, just to be animals. On top of that, they are spoiled beyond repair, with expensive clothes, furniture, and food, all paid by their parents.
