It is not easy to trace Nigerian addresses. The older areas are easier to identify but the newer ones are not because planning approvals are not fully documented before people begin building. It will be sad if you fall into the hand of scammers. But there are precautions you can take. The fact that an address exists does not mean that the person you are dealing with is genuine. On the onther hand, the fact that somebody does not have a traceable address does not mean that he is not genuine. But what my friends do when they do internet business is to collect cash first - eg using paypal - before shipping. However, if you have committed to this person, you will need to work harder. You can report to the EFCC http://efccnigeria.org. It is more effective than the regular police. Incidentally, like in every place, it is easier to go after petty criminals than politically-connected people.
