  • i have heard that people who pray live a bit longer then people that don't. if you want to live longer then me, then pray.
  • Praying to any god has the same success rate. Praying to Paris Hilton has the same success rate as praying to a deity. That should tell people something.
  • Only if health and longevity matter to a person. People who pray, and especially those who attend services regularly live longer, healthier lives.
  • I seen Joel Osteen this Sunday...the message was awesome.... He told a true story of a little girl who's father had cattle and always had new calves being born...his children always wanted to keep the new calves....but he told them this new calf would not be staying....he would be selling it or giving it away. His little daughter who looked to be about 5-7 yrs old...wanted to keep this calf that was soon to be born....she kept asking her father....he kept saying No. She insisted on accepting no and continued to ask....the father finally told his daughter Joanie...that on one condition could she keep the calf that was soon to be born......If it was born black she could keep it...well little Joanie prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed daily to GOD for the calf to be born black.....the day came and the calf was born....the calf was born black with a white J in the middle of it's forhead between it's eyes....J for what....maybe for Joanie to remember JESUS and her answered prayer...or maybe for everyone to know that that little calf belonged to Joanie.... Now tell me....is that a coincedence? GOD is good and HE hears our prayers....HE has also answered many prayers for me....that are without question HIM giving me my prayer answered.
  • I pray to my Guru and he works things out for me.He is greater than any God.First comes my Guru and then every other thing including myself.
  • Prayer can be a good form of meditation. It can help bring you into focus by shutting out all of the outside noise. Hearing yourself say positive things can also serve as a confidence builder.
  • Everything necessarily affects everything else.
  • Yes, praying has the same effect as a placebo Praying on every god invented by man would have the same success rate ...well, not praying at all since nothing fails like prayer
  • Praying may have a beneficial effect on the person who prays. Knowing they are being prayed for may have a beneficial effect on believers prayed for. But people have shown scientifically that praying for people who do not know they are being prayed for has no effects. In other words, there are beneficial effects, but so far as can be seen they are purely psychological.
  • If your prayer is in harmony with Gods will it will be heard. We find this promise at 1 John 5:14,15, " And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that, no matter what it is that we ask according to his will, he hears us. Further, if we know he hears us respecting whatever we are asking we know we are to have the things asked since we have asked them of him." If you are praying to multiple gods your prayer will not be heard since that is not in line with what the Bible teaches that there is only One true God, Jehovah. Psalm 83:18, "That they may know that You, whose name alone is Jehovah, Are the Most High over all the earth."
  • Praying doesn't work and there's no evidence of it working. You're talking to yourself.....And religious people are too arrogant to believe in more than one god, so they wouldn't pray to multiple gods in the first place, because they believe in only their god. Praying is simply talking to an imaginary friend, toddlers do it too.
  • No, praying was an absolute waste of time for me.
  • This is an argument similar to the famous "Pascal's Wager" wherein Pascal makes a bet to believe in god (or pray to a god) because if god exists, he'll be ok, but if he doesn't exist, the praying won't hurt. However, Pascal didn't figure on what happens if you pray to one god, but he isn't the real god, and the real god punishes you. In that case you would have been better not to pray at all. In the case of praying to multiple gods, what happens if some of them punish you for praying to the other ones, and vice versa. Can one be sure that all of the gods get along with each other? The real problem is that there is no reliable knowledge about the existence or non-existence of gods.
  • I think any time you devote emotional and mental energy into something, even a thought, and bring it into conciousness it makes a difference.
  • From the Bible, The prayers of the rightious availth much.
  • yes...yes...NO.....
  • prayer is faith if you have the faith to believe in what you pray then you will fill better
  • They are all on the same party line. Pray to one the others are all picking up their phones to hear what's going on. Afaird the reference to a party line may lose at least a few.
  • no there isonluy one god and he can do anything and do not be supprised
  • no there is only one god and he takes care of all of us and no he can do anything so do not be supprised
  • Scientific studies on prayer show it has no effect on others. So praying for a sick person to recover will not help that person recover. While prayer can be beneficial for the one praying, it's in the same way that meditation is beneficial.
  • Yes. Prayer is the elevation of the mind and heart to God: + In praise of his glory + In petition for some desired good + In thanksgiving for a good received + In intercession for others before God Through prayer the Christian experiences a communion with God through Christ in the Church. "For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy." (St. Thérèse of Lisieux) "Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God." (St. John Damascene) But when we pray, do we speak from the height of our pride and will, or "out of the depths" of a humble and contrite heart? (Psalm 130:1) He who humbles himself will be exalted; humility is the foundation of prayer. Only when we humbly acknowledge that "we do not know how to pray as we ought," are we ready to receive freely the gift of prayer. • prayers are for the weak, the feable, the clueless, the lazy, and the misdirected. if you want or need something you have to look inside yourself and discover what it takes or needs to get it done. if its a sickness your lookin to cure... praying is a false hope that in the end is gonna let you down cause everyone dies
  • Pray only to the God who can answer your prayers--the singular God who revealed Himself in three personalities-- Father, Son (Jesus the Christ), and Holy Spirit. All other gods are idols and have no ability to respond to prayer. The Bible is clear about idols being ineffectual compared to the true God: "Well, we all know that an idol is not really a god and that there is only one God. There may be so-called gods both in heaven and on earth, and some people actually worship many gods and many lords. But we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we live for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life" (1 Corinthians 8:4b-6). The God who answers prayer is the God (the Father) to whom Jesus taught His disciples to pray in Matthew 6:9-13. And for followers of Christ, we are urged and commanded to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Prayer in the name of Jesus (God the Son) is communication with God. To answer your question-- yes, prayer does have an effect. Prayer in the name of Jesus and to God is effective. "The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results" (James 5:16).
  • Praying has no physical affect. The only effect it has is in the minds of believers.
  • Prayer works if its about your physical body if your a believer of it, because it is a fact that if you think its happening than it is more than likely going to happen, it is a fact that if you think.... Im strong and you keep thinking that your going to get stronger faster than someone who only lifts weights, prayer works the same way, its convincing your brain into making it true
  • I'm a christian, and it may be a coincidence but whenever i pray for something it does happen. If I pray to have a better relationship with my mom or dad, it gradually does get better. I've prayed for a lot in these past couple months, and ever since I "found" jesus again life has been a lot better. So I think, yes it does have an effect. It might be psychological, but i'd love to think that it's his spirit =]
  • No. If you pray to all Gods then that 1 God knows you have no faith in him/her. I believe in 1 God and he is a male...and only 2 him becuase I have faith in him. Depends on what you pray on when it comes to the effect. God grants your prayers not when you ask for them, but when you need them...and the time is correct. He is like a good father, and he knows best. Hes not going to give you a gun on your 3rd birthday just cuz you want one...but wait until you are ready. ....but prayer for internal things are always the way to go instead of those which are material and deteriorate. Pray for patience, understanding, forgiveness, love...peace, to be able to learn...to become wise... but dont think any of it comes easy... patience comes while waiting in line all day or at a red light... understanding comes by going through situations so you can relate to other people... forgiveness comes only after you hurt another and need the forgivness...and through guilt. love will come...love is all over... and wisdom can only come after being bent, and broke, and left with nothing... ...nothing comes easy. I suppose that is why faith is lost. but if you can make it through the fire, youll come out beautiful and strong...and ready to take on the world.
  • If you were to repeat the same wish/prayer/mantra every day or night for a long time, if it was about yourself you would find it coming true, and if it was about others you would feel better for it. Positive energy put in a direction will get results. Isn't that nice?
  • Please God..let those old dried up chicken bones in that old box of KFC grow some new chicken flesh all cooked up cuz I'm hungry... waiting..... waiting..... waiting..... waiting..... waiting..... waiting..... waiting..... waiting..... Nope..no effect whatsoever.
