IT's all about american culture...or. well, what japanese people think american culture is. My gf is korean and many of my friends are japanese and all of them had this skewed concept of what america was before they lived here and saw how it really is. When I was in japan and korea it was crazy how they act over some american fads and foods and such. But one thing you have to know is American food chains alter the food to the tastes and preferences of the country they are in. There's versions of foods on the menu there that are not here and then the food itself is often seasoned differently or has different ingredients used...believe me a Big Mac in korea does not taste like a Big Mac in the states. So it's not the food necessarily that is attractive, because it isn't even the same food we are eating, it's their love of our cinema and commercialism that makes them want to emulate us and have the gadgets and things we have. If more americans realized the amount of influence our films, commercials, advertising and music had on the rest of the world, they might be a little embarrassed to see how shamefully dumb it makes us look. We're hated for our politics and loved for our films and ability to own a lot of shit, and have a back yard. Not to mention it's exotic, just like americans like to eat Asian food. In japan and korea fast food is pretty much a snack eaten here and there, unlike in the states where it's a meal.. or every meal for some. Lastly, when you think about it what is american food? A combination of irish, german, spanish, italian, french and african? There's got to be something american that appeals to just about everyone's palate

Probably because it is different that what they are used to. American food to me is steaks, burgers, fried chicken, - who would not like that - high fat, very tasty and high calories.
