If the question has only one definite answer and if I know it I first look if someone else has already given the right answrer. If the right answser has not come in yet, I give my answer. Otherwise I just rate and move on.

only if there are less than a dozen answers already. i figure the questioner has received a good variety of responses by then, and i will have nothing to add.

any answer is an acceptable answer whether it is thee answer or not. i share answers, people like to say i dont know the answers. that's okay.
