  • First, figure out where to send your request. The publisher is a good start. Some authors even provide an address for contact purposes, but this is rare. Make your request short and sweet. Something along the lines of. . . Dear (Author's name), I really enjoyed reading (book title). Would you be so kind as to send me an autograph/sign my book/item? Thank you in advance. Sincerely, (Your Name) If you choose to send a book or specific item for the author to autograph, make sure it is something you can bear to part with just in case you do not receive a response. If you mail a book, item, or just want an autograph, your chances may improve of getting it if you enclose a S.A.S.E. (self addressed stamped envelope) or a postage paid way for the author to return your book/item to you. Hope this helps.
  • The publisher is the keyholder to authors. emailing is not a good idea, since emails are erased and forgotton. sending an old fashioned letter should do the trick. once an author is aware, their autograph is requested, 99% will willingly respond. authors like their quite time, but they also realize that not replying to a request, is money out of their pockets. the publishers know this as well. send a letter....you will get your autograph.
