About how long does it take for a tattoo to heal completely and the bumpy, raised-up skin business to go away?

If you take care of it well...putting lotion on it all the time and such..it should take about two weeks...to a month for it to heal

you shouldn"t have bumpy raised skin, and it should be healed in 4-6 days if you received the proper healing instructions and it was done by an experienced,licenced and health board approved professional

All of mine took between 2 and 4 weeks to heal completely.

All mine healed in less than a week, but all my tattoo's still have upraised skin, i can rub my arm back and forth and tell where the "naked skin" is and where the "inked skin" is. almost everyone i know who has a tattoo has the same "upraised" skin.

I got my first tatto on my ankle done a week ago. I faithfully clean and add "Whatever Tattoo Ointment" when needed. Thing is that I haven't experienced any dry or peeling skin on that area, though my skin is slightly raised. My question, are there any tips on helping the process speed up a bit? If this helps in any way, I didnt bleed at all during the tatting.

it can take from 5 days to 6 weeks for the skin to completly heal. the up-raised skin will sometimes not go away, it's like your personal scar. Do Not Put LOTION on a tattoo it will cause an irritating itch, only use A&D ontiment for healing purposes

Anyone here giving an exact answer (ie: it will be healed in this many days) is wrong. Healing times depends on your health, how well you care for it afterwards and the artist who did the work Mine are always fully healed in less than a week. I never scab, and peeling is minimal. I have 17 tattoos. My husband, who has even more than me, takes much longer to heal. His last one took 6 weeks. As for bumpy raised skin... Thats not at all supposed to happen on a well made tattoo. Once fully healed, you should be able to close your eyes and rub along your body, and NOT be able to tell where the tattoo is. Some people want that technique, and thats fine, but normally you should not be able to feel it at all, once healed.

I have seven tattoos on my body now for twenty one yrs and it only took about a week to 14 days for them to heal with the right tattooo ointment and I even put baby oil on them so the skin will not feel like an elastic and it will not bump up

i got my second tattoo done like 5 days ago and it itches like crazy how long does that usually take to stop?

i think that mine is healed but it only took about 7 days and i put basatraction on it all the time like maybe 2 times a day and it is fine it doesnt itch or anything and it looks great im already looking to get another one

I am on my 11th day (it's my first tatt and it's on my wrist) it still hasn't healed and it's still peeling. Is that normal??!!

I was told by my tattoo artist that it can takes up to a month for a tattoo to fully heal. Size of tattoo and individual person can make a difference though. I just got my first tattoo this past Thursday night by a really well known artist (www.MeganHoogland.com) and I am going on day three of the healing process. It is on my back, slightly below my neck and reaching down toward the end of my shoulder blade. My artist instructed me to wash it three times a day with antibacterial soap, do this for the first three days to give it the proper time to "dry-out" and "scab" over. On the forth day start introducing a thin layer of Eucerin or fragrance/aloe free Aveeno lotion 2-3 times a day. Never use anything with a petroleum base or with aloe. It does indeed suck the color right out. I have no idea about the bumpy aspect of the tattoo, but I am hoping that if it does happen it will indeed go away.

It really depends on how big the tattoo is, I got one and its not that big and it took me around 6 days to heal.

I love the bumpy skin, I could never stop touching it, twas like having a patch embroidered on your skin.
