  • Any message in art is in the head of the beholder...problems, questioneverything?
  • Many art pieces do, but the purpose of art isn't to inculcate a moral. It's to express the feelings of the artist or to stimulate the viewer's thinking.
  • You know, I guess it's all a matter of perception. I was just wondering why most art today has to have a message of some kind instead of just capturing the beauty around us.
  • because back then art wasn't that popular, and artists were really really poor. they use to make art to express themselves because they loved it. for example, van goh; every time he got money he would buy art supplies just so he could paint. they did it for themselves. today artists just make art to make money and don't put anything special into it. they just slap a bunch of odd stuff together hoping it attracts rich people thinking it has some sort of special meaning when they're just paying 10000 bucks for a piece of crap the artist probably found in their backyard.
