Do you live in a safe enough town that you leave your windows open at night? Not much crime where I live but do you think Im being careless?

Hemet is basically a town of hundreds of retirement communities...single-family residences, mobile homes, condos, manufactured homes. There are areas in Hemet where crime occurs but it has never happened anywhere near us. We do leave one bedroom window open at night but it is not accessible without a ladder since it is higher than normal although we only have a single-story home. We have a ceiling fan and other fans as well. But we would never leave windows open that one could easily just step into with ease. :)

We live far from town and have only 2 other full time families here, two vacation homes. And all the other people are our family members. We do open the windows at night, especially upstairs but do lock the doors, mostly to keep out bears from walking in as we've got those pesky lever doorknobs, silly us. And we've got screens on all the windows and a large dog that's good at barking and looking like a bear herself. Not to many people willing to try getting past her.
