  • buskers they actually work for the money beggars do didily squat
  • Buskers
  • Buskers, they try harder and don't give lame excuses
  • Oh,Buskers by far, they deserve something for doing that, they try real hard.
  • Buskers. But only good ones. I'm all in favour of quality street entertainment, but I've had enough of Skye Boat Song on the tin whistle...
  • Buskers. If I'm going to give out money, I'd at least like to know they're willing to do some kind of work for it. But given the oppurtunity, I'd probably toss a few dollars to both.
  • Buskers, absolutely. Much better return on investment.
  • I was going to ask this question but discovered that you already had! I give money to buskers but never to beggars. Beggars do just that, beg. Buskers provide entertainment and they are working for their money. Admittedly they often don't make much, and some of them are just doing it for fun. Having said that, the busker has to be good and not just playing a demo on the keyboard. But, there is this busker in my town who is absolutely terrible, plays the same couple of tunes constantly on a flute, and did I mention that he's awful? Not only that but he spends a lot of time in my work, drinking bottles of expensive wine while chain smoking, so he can't need the couple of pennnies he makes. So, he doesn't need the money, and he has no talent - why does he bother?? At home in Greece we have gypsies who most often beg, but sometimes they sell things like flowers, matches and paper hankerchiefs. I have never given them money, but if I really needed some matches I would!
  • I would rather a Busker but when I went to N.Y. back in high school I gave money to both!
  • Buskers definitely! They're working for it; it might even be going toward next semester's tuition... Beggars, yes sometimes; it depends on the beggar. I always give them respect, since I believe every person deserves human dignity. Sometimes when I see a bag lady with all her belongings in a shopping cart, I wonder, "How would I arrange MY shopping cart?" Sometimes they really want recognition that they're still human beings more than your spare change.
