Yeah, but then where do you stop? Saddam, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Stalin, Ghengis Khan, the Ceasars? By definition a serial killer should be one man, mano y woman (usually) who has little power except to prey on the truly vulnerable.

Actually, the more appropriate category for Hitler is Mass Murderer: Mass murder (massacre) is the act of murdering a large number of people, typically at the same time, or over a relatively short period of time. Mass murder may be committed by individuals or organizations--wikipedia citation.

Good point, Andersen! Maybe then the distinction should be that mass murderers don't have to get their hands bloody and serial killers do.
by gone on March 10th, 2007
Sad but true and then there are spree killers to confuse the issue even more. Thanks Kate :)

Spree killers?
by gone on March 10th, 2007
I guess that might be, forgive me for saying, but Columbine Shootings? a killing spree
by Kgsult on March 10th, 2007
That does fit the definition of spree killing, yes. Geez Kgsult, I am so rude. Your answer is good all the same and I forgot to say so.
by Andy Is Wicked Married to Penal Colony on March 10th, 2007

He led people to kill in his name.
He was not a serial killer.
by Kevisaurus is a Carnotaurus today on April 26th, 2007
like kgsult, he definitely was in my eyes.
by doodlethenoodle on April 26th, 2007
He was responsible for millions of deaths yet he killed no-one himself so he is invalid based upon the parameters of the question. I strictly answer this academically. Of course this one nut austrian tyrant is a dirt bag bug it has not been proven that he has killed anyone, hence he is a bad choice for an answer. A.H. wasn't a mass murderer, he was the one who inspired others to do such. Should he not be riding Satan's barbed phalyx? Yes! But I still believe he avtually personally did not commit the atrocities: he merely said do it.
by Kevisaurus is a Carnotaurus today on April 26th, 2007
That is the worst kind of serial killer...to get someone else to commit those kinds of despicable acts.
by Jade on April 27th, 2007
Where I come from helping someone commit a crime holds the same value as if you were to commit it. He's a murderer... end of story. @Caoimhghin
by Kgsult on April 28th, 2007
You just stole my answer!
by Arisztid on June 30th, 2007
Depends on how you define demented. Hitler didnt kill anyone/many himself so does he count? If he does count what about stalin?
by The_Rev on February 19th, 2008
I would vote more for one of his Nazi camp people, Joseph Mangala. Mengala being in Hitlers seat probably would have blown up the world.
by ??? on May 3rd, 2010
he is more a mass murderer in my opinion
by HayleyVenus07 on November 9th, 2010
I don't think anybody is disagreeing with you.
by Piano playin unicorn with a hat ™ on November 18th, 2010
I disagree. Hilter was bad, but Stalin freely killed millions more people and was never punished.
by jaindough on March 7th, 2011
So that's why I saw Hitler on the Wheaties Box.
by bearwinston on April 20th, 2011
I thought Hitler was Der Wurst.
by bearwinston on April 20th, 2011
Well there was a war going on.Churchill and Roosevelt killed more Germans than vice versa.
by bearwinston on August 7th, 2011
No people,I might be wrong, but I guess Hitler can't be considered a serial killer,or else George Bush and the Turkish who killed many and many armenians would be serial killers too,I guess there is a difference between a genocidal, that is usually a leader of a group/nation/empire,etc,who kill whoever stands on his way for political and ideological reasons, and a serial killer, who is someone who usually is a psychopathy, have some kind of trauma,or is just a sadistic person who enjoys torturing and killing, and they always have a exclusive way of choosing victims,a reason for choosing those victims, and a persinal motivation to kill. So,it's different things,Hitler is one thing,Ted Bundy is another.
by KingNurk on August 11th, 2011
I think, KingNurk, you are referring to the old Rostand quote:
"Kill one man, and you are a murderer. Kill millions of men, and you are a conqueror. Kill them all, and you are a god."
Serial killers, as we think of them in today's society, don't employ armies to carry out their evil deeds. They are usually solitary psychos who prefer hands on killing.
by jaindough on August 11th, 2011
George Bush for starting an unprovoked war against a race of a different color because Sadam nationalized daddy's and Cheney's oil holdings. Then used that war to kill 2,000,000 people of a diffferend race including over 200,000 children under 12.
Then President Obama for continuing the recial slaughter of hundreds of thousand more. Internationally, we are a disgrace.
