  • It should be able to help sort out what possible breeds are in your dog. I know of one vet in this area of PA who insists on doing the test, supposedly to find out if the mixed breed has any breeds in it that could negatively react to vaccines...they charge a pretty hefty price to run the DNA test...so I'm not real comfortable assuming it is needed...PLUS...I'm not keen on vaccinating anyone, any way! http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/TruthAboutVaccines/?yguid=354615195 This web site offers HOME DNA tests, at a fairly reasonable cost, I don't know how accurate these tests ARE...but here is the information about them for your consideration. http://dogs.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Dog_DNA_Test
  • I'm sure they could so something like that.... but I can't think of a really mandatory reason why it would be necessary, just a waste of money.
  • Yes, many people are doing this now, both at a vet's office or from kits you can buy and send off. I don't know how accurate they are as some results seem to be really wild from what I've heard. Canine Heritage is the company I usually hear about : http://www.canineheritage.com/ I think it's about $35-70
