Where is the location of fuel filter on 2005 ford ranger ext cab

It is located on the inside of the drivers side frame rail about where the driver sits. There are three lines, 2 in the back of the filter and one in the front of the filter. The lines in the rear have a green clip and an orange clip, the front line has a green clip. Take a flat blade screwdriver and push in on the clips and pull the lines off. I had about a 1/2 cup of gas come out. Reinstall the lines until you hear a click making sure they are on by pulling on them. Check for leaks after starting the truck.

in an XLT it is on the inside of the frame directly under the driver

Check along the passenger side foot well next to the transmission.
