It sucked! It just didn't seem right. My kids hate it too. "I can't sleep, its still light outside."

Bed in Summer by Robert Louis Stevenson In winter I get up at night And dress by yellow candle-light. In summer quite the other way, I have to go to bed by day. I have to go to bed and see The birds still hopping on the tree, Or hear the grown-up people's feet Still going past me in the street. And does it not seem hard to you, When all the sky is clear and blue, And I should like so much to play, To have to go to bed by day?

Fantastic question, I remember being very young and the sunlight coming in warm rays throught the thin curtains and warming my bed and the sounds of grown-ups outside and feeling cosy and safe. Then as I got older I remember being booored and wishing I could go out to play lol
-
Yes I do remember this, and I absolutely hated it!!! It was even worse if you could hear other children still playing out. And now I'm all grown up, I will never ever go to bed before the sun goes down, unless I'm ill.

I was very young when my parents made us go to bed before sunset. I would just lie in bed until it was dark.
