  • They were sent to relocation camps or prison. I dont believe they had Diplomatic immunity back in the 40's, It was agreed as international law in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations 1961.
  • Ambassador Kichisaburō Nomura and special envoy Saburō Kurusu were actually negotiating with US Secretary of State Cordell Hull when Pearl Harbor was bombed. A coded message had been sent to them telling them to break off negotiations, but their embassy was closed and did not decode it before the attack. They returned to Japan on August 20, 1942.
