  • I am not from France, but I enjoyed a tour of the Moet de Chandon winery when I visited in 2001. Bought a bottle there for about $70 US that cost around $250 in the States. Shared it with my family in SF upon the birth of my niece shortly after I returned, and we gave my newborn niece her first "taste" when she was 3 days old by rubbing a bit on her lips. She licked them with satisfaction. Five months later at Xmas, my family shared a bottle of nice but more ordinary champagne, and - again - we let my little niece share by rubbing a bit on her lips. She licked her lip and then made a terrible face. We have always said that my niece tasted fine champagne at birth and that we have spoiled her taste forever for anything but the very best by letting her taste Moet de Chandon with us at three days old .... ;-) Anyway, the tour was fun and I would recommend it. You can also visit the cathedral at Rheims the same day = another must see.
  • Try the city of Troyes (Aube) too. A beautifull little town with an amazing historical downtown. Langres (Haute Marne) is beautifull too with one of the France most well conservated rampart and little streets so romantiques (I can advice you to arrive by the train from Paris, because the landscape is astonished, especially the view on the top of the Chaumont's viaduc). Langres :
