i actually evesdrop quite a bit. I mean I'm not as bad as the old woman of the neighborhood who sticks her nose in to everything, but I've done it before.... and surprisingly, I've never felt sorry. Probably because what I heard was nothing particularly devistating, just sort of interesting.

Virtually my whole social life is based on eavesdropping. I don't feel sorry. If they didn't want anyone to hear, they should have been more careful.

Absolutely! I listened to my parents conversations, my brothers, my relatives, strangers in stores talking to loud. I find it interesting. I was once told I was kind of personal...I laughed at that since if people don't want others to know about there lives why talk about it. Plus I have a excellent memory so I can read something here and a week later comment referring to an answer I read...it creeped out a teenager that I knew all this stuff about her...just remember things...scary the details I can remember though. My brother will come to me and ask about the details of something from when we were 4 and 5.

Yes, and no.

I have, many times. Usually I am grateful because for me to go to the effort to eavesdrop, I have to be concerened in some way. Usually I find it helps explain a lot of things, and can be quite enlightening. However, I have also found it to be my dad having phone sex when I was 6. It doesn't always pay to be curious, you know

I have eavesdropped and no I wasnt sorry.

I have pretended to be asleep at a party and heard negative things said about myself by a so called friend.

Without a long story ~ YES!

G'day Simply Kate, Thank you for your question. I have overheard a conversation once when someone said something I wished I hadn't heard about myself. I guess that people generally aren't going to say nasty things about you in your presence so that if you eavesdrop, you might get a nasty surprise. Regards

I eavesdrop all the time! Most of the time I do it at work (I work in a bar and you can just imagine what I hear there), or at school while waiting for a lecture to start. I find it entertaining and I never use any information for a malicious intent. Most of the time, I end up joining in the convo, especially if it's at work...

I overheard one of my neighbors talking about a felony conviction for armed robbery once. I'm not sorry for my eavesdropping at all. I put in a security alarm system immediately after learning about my neighbor's criminal history.

I eavesdropped on a doctor crying to himself, in the stairwell of a hospital. A surgery had gone wrong, and he was overloaded with guilt, insecurity, and fear, not sure if he could go on. I never looked at doctors the same way again. We are all fragile. We all just try to make our way in the world, in the moment, as best we can. I am really grateful for that.
-
Yeah I have eavesdropped, and no I wasn't sorry, I found out about something my 13 year old son was going to do, and I got to put an end to it before he got hurt or killed.

I'm a very quiet person, so if I was in a class or on the bus or something, I can't help but hear what other people are saying around me. Some people do say really stupid or nasty things about others when they're not around, so it makes me want to associate with them less. I'm actually quite subconscious about that sort of thing, so if I am having a conversation with someone, i'll keep my voice down, so it's just between the two of us.
