  • Hi, skeeter! Nice to see you! I strongly prefer not to flag, and go to the source instead. I think it works much better to leave a nice message to someone, rather than leaving them possibly feeling that they've been treated callously because no one said anything to them. A lot can be misinterpreted around here, and sometimes the lack of communication is very rude. I see it all the time.
  • I just answer the questions as the come up, I do not say anything and I do not flag dupes. That is unless it is a Spammer and I rarely seem to see any of those.
  • I don't understand it either. I've had several of my questions flagged as duplicate and when I looked at the question it refered to, it was 2 years old. I always wait to see if a duplicate comes up before I post a question. At first it did bother me, now I just shake my head and go on about my business.
  • If you are referring to my post last night, that was an individual situation. If it is an innocent duplicate, no harm, no foul. The one last night was a user that has, for the last year, been starting a new account every weekend. This user posts a made up, shocking question six times every time, provoking a lot of consternation from the people who answer it. The user posts six exact duplicates in different categories and then sits back to watch the fun. By the end of the weekend there are usually many angry, upset or frightened posts, and the account is shut down. The questions are usually shocking questions about abuse, neglect, dying parents, or OCD. I caught on to the pattern about six months ago, and now I call them on it whenever I see it. The last time I called them on it, they disappeared for some time.
