Forgive my answering a question with a question, but what exactly is a "nanny state?"

I think the nanny state started with the parents of the baby boomers. They seem to have a sense of entitlement that is out of all proportion. They were the first generation who believed that the government owed them because of WWII. I know, I know, this sounds harsh, but if you look objectively at it, you will see that this generation had 3% interest rates on home loans and 20% interest rates on savings. That generation accumulated more wealth than any other. The percentage of deposit to withdrawal in Social Security is just mind boggling. I could go on but, I think you get the point. It's the sense of entitlement that makes for greed and the 'nanny state'.

no we don't!, if anyone is to blame its the Baby Boomers kids who have had kids , what I am saying is the last 25 years has produced more whingers and thin skinned self centred cotton wooled cry babies than ever before. These are the same ones who will not take the blame for their own actions as its easier to make everyone cover their sorry arses .

No. We have the Free Market Capitalists, and their scorched earth policies that dismantled every worker's protections. F.M.C. resulted in the rich folks getting richer, and the working class getting screwed. Thus- your nightmare of the working class getting protections.
