  • I'd call a vet and ask first.
  • I think they probably make a puppy formula. I have fed baby rabbits kitten formula (on the advice of a vet). Since there is so much difference between babies and puppies, you would probably be better off getting the formula made for puppies.
  • They do have milk replacement formulas for puppies. They have it for kittens too.

  • If you had nothing else, and for a once off, maybe, but not regularly. Human baby formula is made to resemble human milk, which is quite different from dog milk. There are commercial animal formulas available.
  • No, you must use Milk replacement that is formulated for puppies. Infant formula doesn't provide proper nutrition for growing puppies.
  • Here's a great milk replacer recipe for puppies. You can feed it to Mom also and it will increase her milk production. It's also great for weaning. I add it to some ground dog food and let it soak so that it's mushy. 8oz of water 8oz of plain or vanilla yogurt with live cultures 1 can of evaporated milk (about 12oz) 2 egg yolks (not the whites, puppies can't digest this.) Blend it for a few seconds or until it's lump free and keep refrigerated. It stays good in the refrigerator for a week or so.
  • yes!we fed our 1-week-old puppies with infant milk.
  • It's better to get the puppy formula for them if you need to use a milk replacement. Most pet stores sell it and even some Wal-Marts sell it. The one I use is called "Just Born" and I keep some on hand just in case.
