Be sure to be polite and courteous by thanking them for the opportunity to work at their company because you will be needing their letter of recommendation, most likely, when you apply at another job.

i would put in a notice and try to leave on good terms if possible.

Give your direct boss written notification of your resignation. Include a date that will be your last working day. Then work hard until your notice is complete. You never know who you will need later in life. You may need to walk over some bridges more than once, so don't burn them.
