Why do some people downrate answers without leaving a comment? If they leave no comment you have no idea why they have downgraded the answer and as far as you can see it can be a perfectly good answer.

I used to wonder exactly that for a while. I learned not to wonder or to hate or to be bitter against those when I realized how to think more objectively, how to rationalize what kind of person DR'ed me and why. This mindset comes from experience. :)

Sometimes it is apparent why an answer was downrated. If the answer is nothing but a petty insult directed towards the question asker, reasons are not needed to DR that answer. Also, I have noticed that when a creationist answers in a question directed towards scientific theory or atheism, the creationist will receive multiple DRs, just for being there.

Apparently, it's a free world with free flow of opinions and ideas. Downrating is just another way of expressing it. Don't pay attention, it's not worth it.:)

Some people will uprate answers too without leaving a comment. I have done both. Nowadays though, it is rare for me to downrate, unless it is only an insult or something dirty and pointless.

I have said this a thousand times and I will continue to say it .. Asking questions like this one feeds the trolls, they are trying to get a reaction .. NEVER give them one!!!!
