Is there a legal problem in using a competitor's name as a domain name, and redirecting it to your own website?

I believe I have heard of lawsuits about such things, but I don't know the outcome. Most companies with any pocket-depth buy up all domains that sound remotely like their own, to prevent such occurrences. You can sue anybody for anything, of course. And a good lawyer may be able to get it to stick. Good question...
