Not at all. Movie boxing requires behavior that would get your bell rung in a real bout. You gotta keep the camera angles clear so they can capture the faces and that means keeping your guard down. Head combos are exciting to film and watch, so you'll see more of those in a boxing film.

I don't care about how plausible they are... Those films are 80s cult movies and I'll always love them!!!! However, I reckon that with pushes like these, you'd probable end up brain damaged!!!

It is totally unrealistic... when Rocky fights Dolph Lundgren's character (I forget his name and which film it was in but all the fans will know what I am talking about!) then Rocky ends up on the canvas several times before storming back from being virtually dead to win. In a real boxing match the referee would have stepped in to stop the fight before the bell had rung to end the first round because Rocky was unable to defend himself properly and fighter safety is the first priority of a boxing referee. To be honest, the fights in the Rocky movies hardly even resemble boxing.

Yo, Adrian. This is not exactly what I would call a “best practice”.

what's the point of making a movie to save your career if you cover your face during the fight scenes?

Was Rocky a boxing documentary or a movie for entertainment?
