Nope, it's part and parcel of the UAC (User Access Control). However, you can turn the UAC off in the Control Panel.

Any halfway decent security setup allows a "Remember this setting". I have enough other reasons to not even touch a Vista box anyways, but if Vista doesn't even have THAT rudimentary ability then I would recommend either downgrading to XP or switch to Linux.

Hi ... I have Yahoo IM on the laptop where Vista is installed, and I have never had this problem. Try to install a program called "Take Control" from this website: http://www.downloadsquad.com/2007/11/30/take-control-of-pesky-locked-system-files-in-vista/ When you install it go All Programs ... Yahoo Messenger ... RIGHT mouse click on it and click "Run as Administrator". It should help. If not I give up, very sorry. LOL You have nothing to lose when you install this little program. It can take a good care of your other tasks when it needs your permission. For example, you need to save some new wallpapers for your computer. Sometimes the folder will not let you save. This program WILL let you perform it. You can always uninstall if you don't need it. Good luck. P.S. e-mail me if you have questions about this program OK?? ;))

Weird... it only asked me once. It should only ask you every time something in the program code is changed, such as if you get a new version of the program and install it. Thats the only time mine prompts me to give permission
