I use XP and a smart guy at a computer store told me that he hates Vista.

I honestly don't know why people hate it so much. I got it with my HP Pavillion Laptop. It's been a good experience. I really enjoy the advanced features like, -better copy/paste dialog -integrated desktop search -UAC (yes i think it's a good idea) -better firewall than XP. I use Ubuntu as my occasional OS. And compared to vista, (I might get downgraded for this!) it feels immature and unexperienced. Yes, Beryl looks better than Aero in certain respects. But an OS isn't built around looks. Vista uses a lot of RAM. True. But what use is RAM if it isn't being used? Vista loads it with commonly used applications, so when you start it up, it loads up in a flash. When you play a game for example, it automatically frees up the "pre-fetch cache". The new media center is great. Being a new OS, it still has a few bugs. Given time, it will be as stable as XP. Everyone seems to have forgotten how much worse XP was when it was first released.

Ive had for about 8 months, its better than XP with better graphics ect

Everyone thinks it's bad except for this one guy in my class. I think I'll get one when it's not as new and most problems and bugs have been fixed.

It's okay. I haven't had any real problems with it. I'd like to get it on one of my desktop PCs though, so I could see if it really has problems.

It's great, you just need a nice system to run it. Well not GREAT, you can run it on a 128 MB graphic card, with 2 GB of RAM, with a 2.13 Ghz Dual core no problem. IMO, it is pretty sweet. Nice graphics and everything, runs every game I threw at it.
