Comets are described as huge "dirty snowballs" made mostly of water ice. Where do you suppose this water came from? Why would huge balls of water ice just happen to be flying around in space?

Some theorists believe that once upon a time,the moon had water on it.Some kind of collision may have caused some frozen pieces to break off(hence the craters on the moon),and shoot frozen balls of ice into space,and since space has no real gravity,temperatures are fairly low(Depending on the distance of the sun from your point),the ice was able to stay well formed and fully intact throughout the years.Hope that your Educational Curiosity NEVER GIVES UP! +4*
