It depends entirely on what grade the stones are. The gold doesn't matter that much. In todays market, for a *very good stone* that has excellent cut, clarity, and color, 5 carats would be anywhere from $50,000-100,000+ approximately. it depends also on where you buy it. It will cost more at Tiffany's than a local jewelry store. This is for a white diamond. The fancy color stones such as pink or other hues would cost much more. A ring with many small stones *totalling* 5 carats will cost much less. I would think, based on loooking around that a good quality 5 carat ring with good stones could be in the $9-12,000 range, which of course is much less than a single stone. I am referring to a single solitaire stone with a 5 carat weight with the $50,000-100,000 pricing.

It all depends on the size of the diamonds (carats). Also cut, clarity and color (other rating factors for the diamonds) will affect the total cost of the ring. So, the ones I found online ranged from $1,400 (US ) for a total of .5 cts (that means that each diamond is .1 crt) to a total of $5,625 for 2.00 cts (each diamond is .4 crt) I'd imagine that you can find many more expensive ones too, as these may not have been the best diamonds (I didn't check color, cut or clarity ratings).

quality is the cost effecter. The 4 C's. caret, clarity, colur, cut. Clarity, Colour and Cut (proportion) are the quality elements which together with the Carat Weight determine the value of a stone. The closer a diamond grades to the left of one or all of these scales the rarer and the more costly it will be. While clarity is frequently assumed to be the most important factor of all the "C's", in fact, colour and cut (especially cut) have a more profound affect on the visual appearance of a diamond. http://www.diasource.com/fourcs.htm

How long is a piece of string? But seriously there are cheap diamond rings made for all tastes. just take a look at them all on websites such as http://cheapdiamondring.info You should decide how much you want to spend, then look for a ring that you like. If you have lots of money then the sky is the limit, if not you wil be looking at something synthetic.
