If your running a PC it could be that your computer has a lot of programs scheduled to start when your computer turns on. You can fix it by unchecking programs you don't want to start when you start your computer if you search for msconfig and click on the start up or boot up tab.

Like the other answerer said, you probably have too many programs set to open on startup. Go to start menu > Run > and type in "msconfig" without the quotations. Click the tab labeled "startup". Most of the things there you can uncheck. If checking any of those things makes your system unstable for any reason, just go back to msconfig and add the check mark back. Too many programs on startup can cause a major delay in response time when first booting up your computer, not to mention causing your computer to run more slowly during use. Too many processes running = RAM and CPU overload which in turn = reduced performance.

As with the other answers....but get a copy of Spybot (freeware)from the internet, when installed and updated set the menu 'MODE' to advanced mode and click on the tools bar on the left hand side then click system startup tab and you will see descriptions of the startup items that you can safely delete from your computer (windows only)
