Most of the time, a dog’s nose is cool and moist because his tear ducts drain into his nose. But if your pup’s nose is dry, don’t worry, it’s doesn’t usually mean that he is sick. In fact, and animal’s appetite and behavior are much better indicators of overall health.

However, if your dog has a runny nose or a nasal discharge, consult your veterinarian, as it could be a sign or an allergy or illness.

It's a sign of hydration and health. If an animal is unhealthy it's nose will be dry. The same goes for the animal if it's dehydrated its nose will be dry. Also, as animals age, their noses can get really dry.

Answer to your question just means they are healthy if the nose is wet and when dry this means they are not feeling well

A wet, cool nose means they are healthy.

A warm, dry nose means they should possibly be seen by a veterinarian.

You will find nose of chick is wet when it's awake and dry after a sleep, easy way to tell a dozy chick by the dry sandpaper nose. Its seems a lot of people get nose of chick, I always try and get the nose of any chick I see, some chick's don't like you getting the nose at all but others like it and sometimes do their own nose on your fingers or sometimes toe nose or even nose nose, very funny when you are sat there and suddenly you get a cold wet nose on you.
