I believe nearly anything can be a work of art. It all depend on someones vision and determination to bring it all together.

True- the older ships were built to be not only functional but with an eye for aesthetics as well. A sailing vessel, with it's sleek body and sails that spread and catch the the wind has often been compared to a sea bird. Sadly, it seems the trend is for modern vessels to be purely utilitarian, "purpose built" and "no frills". Compare these two naval vessels.
