Son drives a car that is insured by his dad. He is not on the insurance, and lives at the same address as the father. Son totals the car. Insurance gives them a quote and a deductible. But gives them $7,000 less then the first quote. Is this true?

Could be....and maybe dpart of this story is missisng. Maybe son did not have a valid license; maybe son isn't old enough to get a license; maybe dad knowingly allowed the son to drive the car, in which case it would seem that he (dad) is in violation of some portion of his policy. I wouldn't be surprised if the insurance company raises dad's rates next time around, or drops the policy.
