Why is anything that is strange or original now considered "INDIE"?

    It was my understanding that it only means independent music/film/ whatever isn't considered mainstream, musicians/artists who basically represent themselves.

    But some people like to label their alleged uniqueness, so I agree with friday1322, its just a trend.
