It would depend on the mood. If I am eating, I like instrumental, becuase I can have one ear on it while I am eating and conversing. But, just to sit down and listen to, no. I prefer to sing along.

I like it, it is more relaxing.

I like it best...I'm not restricted in meaning by lyrics. I love space music, world music and belly dance at present...but am also quite partial (depending upon mood and timing) on big band other jazz and classical instrumental genres.

I like instrumental music. But like all genres, there are good and bad within the genre. As for 'stiring the soul', certain Celtic instrumentals can do that for me -- particularly if they're by the Brothers O'Danna -- and the instrumentals from some of my favorite Broadway musicals can, as well. For that matter, soundtracks from some movies, like Gone With The Wind, also will have that effect on me.

I absolutely love Irish instrumental music. It really calms me down, it sooths me. I could listen to it all day. I also love Scottish instrumental music, it has the same effect on me. A really great band you should check out is Salsa Celtica. Its a mix between Spanish and Irish music, its amazing. If you saw Driving Lessons, then you know who they are, when Ben and Bryony are dancing...(Damn I hate that scene and the scene that follows!!!!)
