No self respecting cook uses Instant Potato's. Slave over a stove and ruin it with fake potato's. I think not.

My mother always used instant mash. But my husband will NOT touch mashed potatoes unless i peeled them, then mashed them myself. Its not too bad, they do taste better. :) But it can be hell on my hands...

There is no comparison and real mashed potatoes are worth the effort. I am not a big fan of leftovers but mashed potaotes with a little milk and butter heat up in the microwave pretty well. Make a double batch on your day off and enjoy during the week.

I prefer homemade mashed potatoes, to me the instant picks up the flavor of the box.
-
I peel and mash them myself. Sometimes I don't peel them all the way to get red skinned potatoes.

I just cannot gag instant mashed potatoes. When I make mashed potatoes, I first make a green onion dip with sour cream. After I've added the butter to the cooked potatoes, I then dump in the container of green onion dip I've made and mix and mash it all up. Soooooo good!

I always make mashed potatoes from scratch, yuck, there is no comparison with the box stuff. I want the food that I eat to be as tasty as possible. I have used the flakes to add to some bread or dough recipes instead of boiling a potato and making a bit of mash but the taste isn't critical there.

Box when too lazy to bother... but it makes me feel guilty because I can actually feel my dead mother cringe every time I do.

Real mashed potato of course! There really is no substitute for the taste of home cooked food that is made from scratch using organic ingredients from your own backyard. I love mashed potato made with garlic butter and cream. Not milk. Cream. Mmmmm.
-
Make them with the real thing. That is the only way to go. We do nothing instant in my house.
-
Real mashed potatoes anytime, hey it's not that hard I'm not a great cook but I can do that
-
Peel, boil and mash myself.
-
The simple thought of boxed mashed potatoes makes me want to get instant religion and declare it an abomination.
-
Scratch only. I used to use instant occasionally, but since I've been diagnosed with food allergies, I daren't. There might be a preservative or an anti-clumping agent in there that I'd react to.
