I used to live in CA and find it far less desirable than most (but certainly not all) other states. Among one of many reasons California is less desirable is the overpopulation and expensive-ness of the state in the first place.

scenic coastline, temperate climate, lots of fruits and nuts and hotty Arnold as Governator!

In my experience, California is not very desirable at all.

I haven't been there in decades, but the scenery was awesome. Knowing Americans, they probably wrecked most of it by now.
