This is how I quit. If you can't do cold turkey, try drinking lots of fruit juice, water, always have something to sip or chew on. Keep yourself occupied, and make a list of people/pets you love, stick it to the refrigerator, and every morning, look at it to remind you who/what you're quitting for. Breathing freely is also one positive side-effect of quitting smoking. Smelling better, having more energy. I KNOW THAT IT"S HARD,but if you stick to it,and NEVER give up,you can accomplish your goals!*Good Luck!*

Reduce the amount of cigerettes you smoke week by week, until you stop.

Just like when you first started to smoke, you gradually smoke more and more by the week, you can do the same in reverse. This has always worked for me whenever I feel I am too dependent on cigarretes. I slow it down until I need not smoke any more. It takes a few months. After a long while I start smoking again since I really enjoy it, but don't want to be too addicted either. Try to not buy cigarettes as much either, knowing you will run out, you will have to space out your smokes thus smoking less often. Carrying less money, not stopping for gas or snacks (places you buy cigs) helps minimize the need to buy them. Switching brands to one yuou don't enjoy as much also helps. GL

CHew the nicotine gum. It really works if you can go without the act of smoking. It about as expensive as a smoking habit. To really keep yourself motivated, just think about your health and how you will be saving your future health. It's not something to put off.

You gotta wanna quit more than anything else and make that your focus for as long as it takes until the desire stops.

A psychologist friend recommended the following: Find something you hate, like the KKK, and put $10,000 in an escrow account for them dated 3 months from now. If you haven't stopped smoking by then, they get to keep the money. If that isn't enough incentive, double the amount next time.
